Tenuta Peter Sölva

Peter Sölva

(CALDARO – BOLZANO) The Peter Sölva Estate, located in Caldaro, boasts a centuries-old tradition in the production of white wine and red wine such as DeSilvia and red Amistar produced from vines of Lagrein ,  Merlot, Cabernet  and  Sauvignon Blanc.

Tenuta Peter Sölva’s History and Philosophy

We are in
South Tyrol , more precisely in Caldaro , an Italian municipality that has always had a close link with viticulture. The one with wine is such a profound link that its extended name is Caldaro Sulla Strada del Vino , and in its territory it also houses a Wine Museum. There are many factors that make it a suitable place for this type of cultivation, in particular the ideal climatic conditions, with excellent solar radiation and soil composition, which have enhanced and still enhance the winemaking capabilities. This is the framework in which the Sölva family operates , whose family-sized activity dates back to 1731.

In honor of this ancient tradition, three different production lines have been created: Vineyards, a selection of native and representative vines of these areas, Amistar , from the surname of a dear ancestor that is now used to indicate late and specially selected grapes harvested and for last DeSilva , in memory of a distant ancestor, later turned into Sölva , for the old vineyards. Thanks to the scrupulous management of Peter Sölva , the company has found itself at the forefront in welcoming modern innovations and methods both in the vineyard (for what concerns the cultivation, the suitable varieties to plant, and more) and in the cellar (for the use of advanced winemaking methods).

The wines of Tenuta Peter Sölva

The production includes a fair variety of grapes, all those traditionally well suited to these lands. In this wide line we select among the whites the Alto Adige Gewurztraminer Amistar 2013 , with an aromatic nose, a round and persistent mouth. In Sauvignon Blanc De Silva the color ranges from yellow to greenish, with intense aromas of elderberry, nettle and exotic fruits that underline this slightly aromatic grape variety. It is a mineral wine, fresh and savory. Among the reds stand out the Amistar Rosso 2011 and the Amistar Red Edition 2011 , both obtained from Lagrein , Merlot and Cabernet. The first has intense fruity aromas, a prolonged finish and a controlled tannic texture. The second is equally hot and powerful, with pleasant hints of chocolate.
