The Montechiari winery has chosen to combine the native Sangiovese with international grape varieties. The results are truly remarkable blends and red wines. Valuable are Cabernet, Montechiari Rosso Toscana and Merlot. Montechiari has converted to organic.
The Tuscany produces a wide range of wines of various types, as well as those based on Sangiovese have different styles, according to the selected clones, irrespective of the terroir and the environment, so it is difficult to give an absolute description. There are certainly basic factors that can be found almost everywhere, blackberries, cherries, but the nuances are infinite. In addition, in many areas the path of “contamination” has long been chosen, where, beyond the respectful celebration of the main grape variety, Sangiovese, the practice of cultivating “international” varieties has been asserting itself, when it has become established that such grapes, like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon above all, can give excellent results.
The owners Catherine and Moreno Panattoni have mostly chosen the autochthonous vines suited to the Montechiari terroir . All the operations have been carried out for years by one of the most skilled wine technicians in Tuscany, Stefano Chioccioli , who has always been a firm supporter of Montechiari’s potential. And the results are clearly visible to everyone, considering the wines made in this company in recent years: the highly prized Montechiari Cabernet Toscana , with an olfactory range of berries and oats, power on the palate, succulent and persistent. The Montechiari Rosso Toscana , from Sangiovese , Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it is exemplary for the levels to which a mixed blend , Tuscan-Bordeaux, with aromatic complexity of small fruits, great structure and austerity on the palate, with soft and silky tannins. Montechiari has converted to organic . Do not forget the pure Merlot , the second great Montechiari wine, simply to be discovered.
