(CASTIGLIONE FALLETTO – CUNEO) Livia Fontana is a winery located in Barolo, in Castiglione Falletto, famous for the production of Barolo DOCG Riserva Bussia wines, Barbera D’Alba Superiore DOC, the very pleasant Roero Arneis DOCG, the excellent Barolo DOCG Villero, but also the elegant and intriguing Langhe DOC Nebbiolo.

Livia Fontana’s History and Philosophy

The cellars of the Langhe are rich in history and tradition, for centuries the custodians of the secrets that distinguish the wines of this production area and among the most precious secrets, the one for the vinification of the precious Barolo , which represents this territory worldwide. And it is here that one of the productions of Italian excellence and this great wine, obtained from 100% Nebbiolo grapes and which is produced in 11 municipalities of Piedmont: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, La Morra, Monforte d’Alba, Roddi, Verduno, Cherasco, Diano d’Alba, Novello and Grinzane Cavour.

And right in the center of the Barolo area , in Castiglione Falletto , theCantina Livia Fontana has its headquarters, with 10 hectares of vineyards, located between 300 and 350m above sea level, in which the cultivated vines are indigenous: Nebbiolo, Barbera and Arneis . A company and a historic family, which for 8 generations , almost 200 years of winemaking tradition, has been conducting this precious reality with great passion and responsibility, actively managed by Livia Fontana and her two sons Michele and Lorenzo, who with their different skills they form an indissoluble synergy.

The company vineyards are divided by grape variety, a part dedicated to the cultivation of Arneis , one for Barbera and a large area dedicated to Nebbiolo . Some of these vines occupy positions of great quality and include excellent crus such as Villero, Meriondino and Bussia and are grown paying particular attention to the natural balance of the land, to completely manual processing, which goes from pruning to harvest, respecting traditions, characterized by a continuous search for quality; attention and dedication found in the various labels produced, thanks above all to the scrupulous practice in the cellar.

The line offered is made up of wines that proudly and loyally bear the vintner’s signature and that testify to their mastery. A perfect representation are Barolo Docg Riserva Bussia, Barbera D’Alba Superiore DOC, the pleasant Roero Arneis Docg, the excellent Barolo Docg Villero, but also the elegant and intriguing Langhe Doc Nebbiolo. Not least are the other wines in the range, all wines that over the years have maintained an always extraordinarily high standard, confirmed over time by the various awards and prizes obtained.
