The Banti di Jacopo Banti winery  located in the municipality of Campiglia Marittima boasts delicious red wines from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Ciliegiolo and Aleatico, while Vermentino for white wines.

It cannot be said that Campiglia Marittima is a renowned place, if anything known as a place to stop in going or returning from Elba . Those who stopped there, perhaps after disembarking from the ferry, could have stopped in the attractive central square of the town to rest or cool off at the local restaurant. And, even if a certain quantity of viticulture was already practiced in the valley of the Cornia river, it was a mixed type, not at all specialized in the cultivation of grapes and with a modest production of wine; consequently it was very likely that the meal was accompanied by one of the wines from the Banti winery, the local leader.

Times have certainly changed, the Val di Cornia , now an official denomination, has become an important source of wine that competes, and very well, with the best of Tuscany , but Banti has remained the main name of Campiglia Marittima . And its wines are not only truly excellent, but the range offered, produced by Ciliegiolo , Vermentino , Aleatico , Cabernet and Pugnitello , is one of the largest that can be found in the region. And it goes without saying that there aren’t many houses in the region that are so experienced.

The merit goes to the scrupulous and professional work of the sons of Jacopo Banti , who now manage the property founded in 1931 by Lorenzo Banti , Jacopo’s father . The 18 hectares of vineyards have been cleverly planted to seize the best opportunities offered by the soil and the microclimate of the plot to the individual grape varieties. Here, in fact, there are many excellences: the regular offer of Ciliegiolo , Ceragiolo , 30 thousand bottles, which demonstrate that it is by no means a minor variety of grapes; the superb selections of Ciliegiolo , an aged 60 months in oak; the powerful Cabernet , the innovativePugnitello , the sparkling and fragrant Vermentino , a luxurious dessert wine based on Aleatico . The choice is indeed vast and reflects the serious intent of the owners and the passionate work of the consultant Laura Zuddas .
