Luciano Ercolino and his whole family are some of the top representatives of their land, Irpinia, in terms of wines. For over 130 they have produced excellent red wines such as Taurasi Rajamaga, Marziacanale, Sant’Andrea, Le Grade Fiano d’Avellino and Ariella Greco di Tufo.

L ‘ Irpinia is not a word, a name whose meaning is instantly recognizable even in Italy, even less outside the country. It derives from the Latin word hirpus , or wolf, which gives an idea of ​​this wild, sometimes wild, countryside of the province of Avellino . Even if we are in the south, this is a different south: extremely isolated, mountainous, cold in winter, cool in summer, a distant echo of sunny and warm Naples, the capital of Campania, to which Irpinia belongs. Here wine has always been produced, and with a special character: austere, detached, powerful, not for immediate pleasure, but for connoisseurs who seek complexity and intensity, a deeper satisfaction. It is also an area far from marginal on a historical level: in the early twentieth century, this was the third most important province in Italy in terms of viticulture and production.

Luciano Ercolino is undoubtedly the son of this land, his grandfather was already involved in wine since 1887, and 130 years of history do not represent a negligible heritage. He saw firsthand the exodus from the post-war campaign and, actively participating, the revival of the viticulture of Irpinia which began in the 1980s, and which continues to the present day. And not as a witness, but as a protagonist, an integral part of a movement that has restored the dignity of this part of southern Italy, and the prestige that the quality of its wines undoubtedly deserve.

This together with many of his brothers, but Vinosia is one of his creations, one that he founded and developed and that made an important force both regionally and nationally. The beautiful cellars , dug into the hills, so as to become almost part of the panorama, are a concrete testimony to the respect and love he feels for his birthplace. The wines are produced from 100 hectares of vineyards which it manages skillfully, a third of which are owned by it. The places have been chosen, plot by plot, for the ability to translate the best qualities of the major Irpinia grapes into wine: Fiano , Greco and Aglianico .
