Tenuta Montenisa

Tenuta Montenisa

(CAZZAGO SAN MARTINO – BRESCIA) In 1999 the Marquises Antinori chose this estate in the heart of Franciacorta to produce Sparkling Wines with the Classic Method. Since then they have been making wine from carefully selected Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc grapes and produce Italian excellence.

Tenuta Montenisa’s History and Philosophy

From the hill of S.Stefano, in Calino, a few km from Cazzago San Martino , the Montenisa estate dominates the whole valley and the surrounding landscape, made of rows that are explained neatly , giving the idea that time stands still here.

The estate owned by the Counts Maggi , historical family from Brescia, is located in the heart of Franciacorta , one of the areas with the highest production and tradition of classic method sparkling wine, located between Brescia and the southern end of Lake Iseo , in Lombardy. In 1999 Marchesi Antinori decided to start producing Sparkling Wines with the Classic Method and right in the beating heart of this age-old tradition, starting from the varieties that are the symbol of the denomination: Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. Thus was born the collaboration between the two families, who decided to manage the lands and vineyards surrounding the estate, in order to produce a large Franciacorta.

Writing or telling the Marquis Antinori is telling the story that counts, one of the oldest family businesses in the world, originating in the Val di Sieve, from a land in Tuscany, where history is strongly intertwined with that of wine, such as Tignanello, father of the Super Tuscan, where Sangiovese becomes magical thanks to the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which has made Marchesi Antinori great in the world.

And here another great story is added that of the Marquises Antinori, an exploration started years ago in that land where the sparkling wines, which are produced from the historic vineyards of the estate, with fine, highly selected grapes and intense aromatic components, create wines overtime. The cultivation in the vineyard is conducted carefully and with respect for the environment and biodiversity. This is possible thanks to the soil rich in minerals, fertile and well drained, due to the presence of the pebbles produced by millenary glaciations and the ventilated and temperate climate.

The wines of Tenuta Montenisa

The winemaking and aging cellars are located under the arcades that delimit the estate complex of the estate. And it is here that the wine in the bottle matures on the lees for long periods, “higher than the minimum prescribed by the disciplinary”, giving the utmost attention to each bottle, with the result of a product that interprets the perfect expression of the territory.

The proposed line is made from a selection of grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot bianco and Pinot nero, for the Classics line: Marchese Antinori Cuvée Royale, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs. While a selection from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes, produced only in exceptional vintages, for the Millesimati Line: Marchese Antinori Conte Aimo, Contessa Maggi and Donna Cora. Worthy of note for the classic line is the Franciacorta Rosé, which best expresses the peculiarities of Pinot Nero, while for the vintage line: Franciacorta Satèn 2012, it interprets all the complexity and multiplicity of Chardonnay grapes vinified in purity.
