Parusso Armando di Parusso F.lli soc. Agricola

(MONFORTE D’ALBA – CUNEO) The origins of the Parusso company date back to 1901 when the first vineyard was purchased by the great-grandfather Parusso Gaspare with an act of transfer of ownership of the land in Mariondino.

Parusso’s History and Philosophy

Cascina Rovella, owned by the Parusso company where the winery stands today together with the underlying Rocche vineyard, was purchased in 1925 in the Bussia area in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, which is just under 4 km from the town of Barolo, exactly in the heart of the Piedmontese wine production, among the most important in Italy.

A territory where the hills, ordered in every season of the year, make the landscape unchanged. A few kilometers away, the  Serralunga d’Alba Castle stands  slender and majestic, an indelible symbol of this landscape, which dominates the  Langhe , surrounded by the hills of great wines. And it is here that the Parusso Company has its production.

The first Parusso label dates back to 1971 along with the first sales of the wine. But then there will be two events that will definitely change the fate of the company, the end of the studies at the wine school of Alba of the current managers Marco and Tiziana Parusso in 1986, and the purchase in 1989 of the Munie vineyard in Bussia, by his father Armando Parusso, legitimizing the fact that from farmers they became full-fledged winemakers.

The wines of Parusso

The company currently produces about 120,000 bottles a year on 23 hectares . A production concentrates on autochthonous vines of Piedmont: Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo . The Nebbiolo grapes are the heart of the three Cru Barolo Bussia, Mosconi and Mariondino, but also the Langhe Nebbiolo . In addition to Barolo, the Parusso production is really articulated, as well as wines such as Dolcetto Piani Noce , Barbera Ornati , Barbera Superiorethey are the expression of an evolution of the territory, achieved through work done with passion and dedication. Whites, on the other hand, are produced with the non-native grape variety Sauvignon Blanc, with which the Langhe Bianco and the Langhe Sauvignon Rovella are produced .

The Parusso wines  are vigorous, elegant and balanced. Among the many we remember the Barolo Mariondino with spicy scents, the Barolo Quarantaquattresima Vintage , powerful and wide, recently recognized also by Slow Wine 2019 as “Great Wine” and, the flagship of the company, the Barolo Bussia Riserva “Oro” , produced only in particularly good years, a real joy to drink.

The entire line of Parusso wines exudes all the mastery of the Piedmontese tradition that this family business has been carrying out with determination for over a century.
