Il Conte Villa Prandone

Il Conte Villa Prandone

(MONTEPRADONE – ASCOLI PICENO) The De Angelis family manages this winery in the Rosso Piceno denomination. The wines produced mainly come from indigenous vineyards, the most prized of all is Montepulciano Marche Rosso IGT, Lukont.

Il Conte Villa Prandone’s History and Philosophy

Thinking of Ascoli Piceno comes to mind the hypothesis of the canon Alessio Simmaco Mazzocchi which attributes the derivation of the name of the city to the Hebrew word Escol (escol bortus), translatable as a bunch of grapes. From this interpretation it could be deduced that the area has always been rich and above all praised for the presence of vine plants.

In this area we find the Conte Villa Prandone , which for over three generations has been taking care of its vineyards, mainly native vines. The company is located in the Tronto Valley , in the south of the Marche on the border with Abruzzo , in the immediate hinterland of San Benedetto del Tronto , just 5 km from the Adriatic Sea , on the splendid hills of Monteprandone . Thanks to the favorable climate and the fragrant coolness of the Adriatic Sea, many grape varieties are grown: Montepulciano , Sangiovese, Merlot, Passerina, Pecorino, Trebbiano which give life to the wines of the line“THE COUNT VILLA PRANDONE” .

The wines of Il Conte Villa Prandone

Wines that tell of the great passion of the DE ANGELIS family, whose difference is made by the common front in the management of the company, which thanks to the perseverance of Walter and Samuel in the vineyards for the agronomic part, the skill of Emmanuel enologist in the cellar and the persistence of Mara and Marina in commercial and export relations make Il Conte Villa Prandone one of the many treasures of this still little-known Marche region, which hides great landscape heritage, cultural riches and traditions to be revealed to the world.

It was said precisely treasures, passion and great skills, which can be found in the production of excellent and noble wines, as is the noble coat of arms of the family that is stylized on the TOP labels produced: IX Prandone, Lukont, Zipolo, Navicchio, Cavaceppo Docg.

Wines that have a handed down processing, such as the winemaking of Il Conte Villa Prandone which takes place in the underground cellars (about 8 meters), with the use of traditional methods from wooden  barrels , barriques , and old concrete tanks inherited from the grandfather Amilcare affectionately nicknamed Lu Cont . A name then used for  Montepulciano Marche Rosso IGT, Lukont, one of the most representative wines of the company’s offer and, in general, of the Marche.
