Fattori

(TERROSSA – VERONA) For over a century Fattori has been producing quality white wines, wines and sparkling wines in Veneto. They mainly grow on the hills in Val d’Alpone with respectful cultivation of the territory.

Fattori’s History and Terroir

The Fattori company is located in Veneto, in Terrossa di Roncà in the province of Verona, in the north-east of Italy, on the volcanic-basaltic hills of the DOC Soave and Lessini Durello, along the slopes of the extinct volcano: Monte Calvarina (682 m) . The altitude that characterizes the family vineyards and the rigorous quality from the vineyard to the cellar, create the ideal conditions for excellent viticulture.

All the vineyards are arranged between  150 and 450 meters high , where the dry and ventilated climate allows and facilitates sustainable when not strictly organic cultivation. The “white” vineyards  are located on the basaltic ridges of the  Val d’Alpone , these are normally black, more rarely yellow, sometimes red from which  Terrossa , where the activity began and where the cellar is still located. 

The Philosophy of the wines of Fattori

Hill cultivation is true passion , symbiosis with the territory, cultural and territorial protection, in defense of an environment as gentle as it is fragile. In the Fattori vineyards the important place is reserved for  Garganega , the main grape of the territory for the production of Soave wine, without forgetting  Durella , indigenous grape variety by definition, characterized by the natural and intrinsic acidity that lends itself to sparkling wine of Durello wine and  Trebbiano di Soave . In addition to this, with conviction, two terrains were sought, identified and dedicated to the national and international challenge, hosting respectively  Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon , both in the municipality of Roncà.

Recently the family purchased a 12-hectare property in  Bastia  (altitude 450 meters),  Valpolicella area in the municipality of Montecchia di Crosara , the last eastern portion of the denomination. Here the vineyards stretch exactly on the ridge between the  Val d’Alpone and the Val d’Illasi , just above the town of Castelcerino, surrounded  by the Lessini, from Monte Baldo to the Piccole Dolomiti.

The wines of Fattori

Up here the basalt, except for rare traces, leaves room for the limestone mixed with the yellowish sulfur rich sandstone. These different components create a  peculiar geological situation  which, in combination with altitude and constant ventilation, contributes to the formation of a truly optimal environment for  Corvina . Hence the grapes,  from organic cultivation , for Amarone  and  Ripasso  Col de la Bastia.
