Castello d’Albola

The Castello d’Albola is located in the hills of the Chianti Classico, precisely in Radda in Chianti in the province of Siena. The flagship is the Chianti Classico wine.

Castello d’Albola’s History and Philosophy

The Albola Castle has belonged to the Zonin family since the 1970s, well known also by virtue of the presence of its estates throughout the national territory. The property in question is special already from the headquarters, in Radda in Chianti, consisting of a delightful medieval village, with beautifully restored buildings, which have made the history of this land, having belonged to noble families over the centuries.

On the wine-growing level, the position is ideal for exposure and radiation, as well as for the constitution of the soil, and the privileged grape variety is Sangiovese, for which the territory is famously suited.

Thanks to the excellent work done, the operative team, led by the oenologist Alessandro Gallo, mocked the old thesis according to which it was not possible to produce high quality wines in Upper Chianti because of the too cool climate.

The wines of Castello d’Albola

Here the production is top notch and, in the wide range, we point out the Chianti Classico Le Ellere 2010 which best represents what is meant by Chianti Classico, fruity aromas of great breadth, soft and powerful palate, with amalgamated tannins , reminiscent of a silk caress on the palate.

The Chianti Classico Riserva 2009 moves along the same lines, but is more austere, with a complex olfactory range of dried fruit and flowers that becomes round and warm on the palate, persistent to the final development. Acciaiolo Toscana Rosso 2007, from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, represents a bit the flagship, with the fruit clearly visible, spicy, with nuances that overlap in harmonious succession, and on the palate there is substance, softness , character, which prolong the pleasantness in the finish. Confirmation of a great wine.
