Bonfanti Vini

(VERONA) The Bonfanti Vini winery produces Valpolicella DOC red wines such as the 2015 Gran Lombardo Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG in Quinzano.

The history and terroir of Bonfanti Vini

Bonfanti Vini is a small family-run company producing Valpolicella wines, promoter of this reality is Sergio Bonfanti who as an engineer poured his passion for wine into the purchase, at the beginning of the 2000s, of a small farm in about 5 ha, well located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, in Località Quinzano (Verona) in Valpolicella Doc.

Quinzano is a town five kilometers from Verona, its toponym is supposed to be born from its distance from Verona, located to the north west in a valley surrounded by the hills closest to Verona with the olive tree and the vine in good symbiosis. Quinzano owes the oldest human presence in the Verona area to this happy geographical position. The Bonfanti Vini vineyard was born right on its hills in the locality of a farmhouse, within the Valpolicella doc area, (a valley with many cellars), a land protected by the Adige river and the Lessinia mountains.

The Philosophy of Bonfanti Vini wines

The company’s philosophy is closely linked to its terroir, therefore the wines are an expression of both the soil, of calcareous nature, and the climate, influenced by the proximity of pristine woods and the work done in the vineyard. The small size of the vineyard has allowed it to be treated as a small creature to be protected and cared for with attention and diligence in a sustainable way.

The result is a wine that does not lose quality but that is told from birth, in the vineyard, until maturation and that of the vine expresses its character and elegance with persistent but soft tannins and aromas of ripe red fruits.

The wines of Bonfanti Vini

The vineyard, overlooking the town of Quinzano, enjoys a privileged position facing south / west. The terraced vineyards are mainly planted in Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, the vines, of medium size and distributed in narrow rows, give life to refined wines obtained from the combination of calcareous soil and pedoclimatic conditions typical of this terroir.

The work in the vineyard is carried out with respect for the environment and with the utmost care and harvesting of the grapes, in fact the grapes of the Bonfanti Winery are harvested by hand and vinified by hand in the Cantina di Negrar. And it is precisely here that the main operations for winemaking, aging and bottling are concentrated through a process that respects the typical procedures of organic wines.

The line offered is divided into eleven labels that express themselves in six red wines, differently understood in their softness and personality: Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Riserva and Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, of great volume and elegance, and Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Organic DOC, a long-limbed and highly drinkable wine, follows the organic Valpolicella Superiore Doc, dynamic and of great nerve to arrive at the Valpolicella DOC which presents itself with a bouquet of red fruits and ready to drink.

Le Grotte Selezione Rosso Verona IGT, a really interesting blend and Rosso Venetica IGT, of greater immediacy. In addition, the company markets white wines such as Salgar Bianco, enriched with hints of the perfect mix of Chardonnay and Garganega, Soave Salgar in the mouth, elegant and with a good aromatic persistence.

The sparkling wine Fior d’Arancio DOCG, yellow muscat and the Prosecco millesimato BRUT DOC, which enhances the territoriality of the Glera Bonfanti wines grapes, a company that carries on a Venetian tradition embellishing it with innovation and concreteness, which works in respect of nature and environment to preserve it for future generations with the aim of becoming a high-level company with a great wine personality in the Veneto, following a long and careful path that continues to evolve and excite starting from the organic certification, obtained as early as 2017, point of departure to help improve and evolve.
