Tasting notes of the wine Piano dei Daini Etna Rosso DOC 2016
Piano dei Daini Etna Rosso Doc 2016 red wine has a beautiful ruby color with good transparency. The nose is very articulate, floral scents of violet, peony, wild rose and fruity notes of cherry, blackberries, small red berries, aromatic Mediterranean herbs, black pepper, with very delicate lava notes reminiscent of tobacco. At the sip, it remains warm, supported by lively tannins, the sensation of freshness is strong and creates harmony and balance in its marked immediacy in the finish.
Grapes: Nerello Mascalese 90%, and Nerello Cappuccio 10%
Alcohol: 14% vol.
Situated on the northern side of Etna, its vineyards extend over two different districts, Piano dei Daini in Solicchiata and Santo Spirito in Passopisciaro, between 650 and 700 m s.l.m The vines are autochthonous and organically grown. Their sapling vineyard, located in Passopisciaro, is among the oldest on the slope, partly prephylloxera and frank, some vines reach 150 years of age.
