Cantine Villa Dora is located in the area of Terzigno, about 3km from Pompeii, with south-west exposure and an altitude of 250m in the province of Naples, and within the Vesuvius National Park. Despite the numerous eruptions of which they have been victims, both the city over the centuries, and some old vineyards of the company in 1944, it has succeeded in maintaining a primacy in wine production and in particular that of the well-known Lacryma Christi wine, already known throughout the Roman era as Vesuvinum Vinum. This is thanks to the extremely fertile volcanic soil of the region that allows for traditional viticulture and the production of the renowned wine that made Terzigno famous throughout the world.
Lacryma Christi is a wine with an incredible history- caught in the mists of time between myth and reality, and although its traditions are rooted, the establishment of the DOC is quite recent and dates back to 1983, and is part of the DOC Vesuvio. The grapes for its production are cultivated in only 15 municipalities of the Neapolitan area with strong wine-growing vocations and are located on the foothills of Vesuvius.
The leading wine of the company is, in fact, the extraordinary and very elegant Vigna del Vulcano Lacryma Christi of the Vesuvio DOC Bianco, a truly immense wine and one that Villa Dora, immersed in a landscape surrounded by the splendid setting of the Mediterranean, has succeeded for years in enhancing its value. Villa Dora is a family-run company created in 1997 by Vincenzo Ambrosi, who, already an entrepreneur in the oil sector has transferred his passion and abilities to the wine sector with even further achievement, and is currently sharing the management with his children Giovanna, Alberto and Francesca.

With its eight hectares of vineyards, the farm is today identified as the premier vineyard of the Vesuvius area. Viticulture is managed with an organic approach and the grapes grown are the autochthonous Coda di Volpe and Falanghina for the production of whites, and Piedirosso and Aglianico for the reds. The vineyards of this company enjoy an extraordinary location, completely encompassed by the forests of the Vesuvius National Park.
The line consists of six labels, two whites: the Vesuvio Bianco DOC Vesuvius and the Vigna del Vulcano Lacryma Christi of the Vesuvio DOC Bianco that goes on the market only two years after the harvest. And the three reds: the deep Gelsonero Lacryma Christi of Vesuvio DOC Rosso, made with the best specifically chosen grapes, which come only from the older vines of 60-65 years, to facilitate aging; the Forgiato Lacryma Christi of Vesuvio Doc Rosso and the Vesuvio Rosso DOC Vesuvio; and finally a rosé Gelsorosa Lacryma Christi of Vesuvius DOC. This line portrays wines that denote the tenacity of Vincenzo and his family which has made the wines of this company, unquestionably, a flagship of Campania production.
