The DE’GAETA estate is located in Castelvetere sul Calore, about 22 Km from Avellino and 75 KM from Naples, in South-west Italy. The five hectares of vineyards are in the depth of the countryside, perched on the ridge of a hill 490 above sea level. A veritable terrace overlooking the Irpinian landscape, marked by the presence of Monte Tuoro and the river Calore Irpino. A DOCG area dotted with vines producing various selections of grapes, the most renowned being the Aglianico Taurasi, valued both as table grapes and wine. Aglianico is by far the best example of the exceptional variety of Campania, where various samples blend in a single feature having origins that date far back in time, and that nowadays strives to reach top quality.
The production of the DE’GAETA estate, founded in 2009, concentrates most of all on the red wine Campi Taurasini. It must be emphasized that the DOC Irpinia Campi Taurasini denomination is quite recent. The denomination easily expressed the sensitivity towards nature, that is respected and studied in its changes, even the most subtle ones, to highlight the identity of an area rich in history and traditions, and in the Aglianico vine.
The two brothers Salvatore and Bruno Gaeta, quality wine estimartors, started to work to obtain at once an excellent wine; thanks to their passion and the expertise of the aenologist Vincenzo Mercurio, they were able to obtain a wine whose quality inreases at each harvest. The natural methods used in this organic winery are environment-friendly: no chemical and synthetic products are used, other than sulphur and copper sulphate. The red wine Irpinia Campi Taurasini DOC DE’GAETA expresses the deep respect Salvatore and Bruno have for their land. Their wine captivates you with its intense, deep features.
DE’GAETA is a small company enriching the sector of wineries and with its commitment, it enhances the great charactericts of this area and of the recent denomination DOC Irpinia Campi Taurasini.
