The company Rossovermiglio is located in Paduli, in the province of Benevento, in the historical area of Sannio in Southern Italy. The company owns 18 hectares of vineyards divided in lots on the two sides of the ancient Via Traiana, producing wines that truly respect tradition. The Via Traiana, named after the emperor Trajan who constructed it in 108 A.D., connected Benevento with Brindisi. A very important road at the time, it was part of a network of roads that took to the Holy Land, and therefore quite popular. The Templar and Hospitaller Knights built inns for the pilgrims to protect their safety. At the time, the inns already served the local wine, which seems to have been enjoyed by the pilgrims. A testimony to the fact that the production of wine was already a fact.
The label of Rossovermiglio is in fact a reference to the ancient times: the great pirate ship, the mast, the vine, Dionysus, Bacchus, the pirates, the spell and the sea are all symbols of ancient traditions that are in fact found in the hand labor in the vineyards and the careful production process implemented in this cellar that was equipped with state-of-the-art technology in 2015.
Run since 2009 by the enologist and agronomist Pierantonio Verlingieri and his wife Maria Teresa, A.I.S sommelier, the company manages soils where only local vines are grown: Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, and the red grape Aglianico partly fermented into white wine. All the white and rosé wines have such elegant texture that they can aspire to longevity. The company owns some of the best-exposed vineyards in the area, between 260 and 400 meters a.s.l., with excellent microclimate and soil composition.
The company’s philosophy to produce wines reflecting the ancient local tradition has brought successful outcomes, also due to the varied, and often awarded production, of a white wine from Agliano grapes and a rosé sparkling wine from Aglianico, Martinotti method. We also wish to mention the captivating and Bronze Medal awarded at the Decanter Asia Wine Award 2017, Falanghina del Sannio Doc 2015, with its intense fruity scents. The balanced Sannio Greco Doc, clear and brilliant; the fiery, captivating red Sannio Aglianico Doc; and finally, the Rosé Sannio Aglianico Doc “Incantesimo Rosa” 2016, which obtained the gold medal at the Trophy International Contest Wine Expo Poland Award 2017. This company outstandingly represents Italy in the world.
